Travis County homeowners received their property tax assessments in the mail over the last week. The amount of appreciation we’ve seen in the Austin market in 2021 is incredible. Here are some tips for handling the explosive appreciation:
1. PROTEST YOUR TAXES
The Oldham Group has partnered with Home Tax Shield to provide you a 50% discount should you chose to fight your property taxes. The discount is for this year and is shown upon check out – PROTEST HERE. There is a nominal fee of $15/year and a 30% success fee after Home Tax Shield successfully lowers your property taxes. You will see your estimated savings after entering your property address. We believe this partnership with Home Tax Shield will provide you a valuable resource and help ensure you protect your homestead tax base and keep investments cash flowing.
2. SHIFT YOUR MINDSET
Double-down on Austin real estate! Real estate values in Austin are just at the BEGINNING of an extended upward trajectory, especially in the urban core. My advice is to reset your price expectations and seize this opportunity to get into the market and ride an extended wave of appreciation.
3. ADJUST THE SAILS

It’s hard for those of us who have been here a long time to think of today’s prices as bargains, but I truly believe we’ll look back in a few years and realize the “getting is still good”.
