Mortgage Rates Drop Below 3%

Mortgage rates dropped further this week. Specifically, the 30-year fixed mortgage rate fell to 2.96% from 2.99% the previous week. With rates at or below 3% for the last 8 weeks, more homebuyers benefit from these low rates

Meanwhile, layoffs continue to fall to their lowest level since the onset of the pandemic. In fact, Iowa (-6%), Kansas (-16%), South Carolina (-23%), South Dakota (-10%) and Vermont (-40%) reported fewer layoffs than pre-pandemic.

As more people return to the workplace, the demand for housing is more likely to increase as Americans set their sights on homeownership.

Pandemic Pool Frenzy

Now that temperatures have hit triple digits, it’s pretty obvious why Austin’s hottest home outdoor amenity is a backyard pool. The pandemic has brought a huge wave of interest and increased desirability for stay-at-home entertainment, but homebuyers and owners should be prepared to pay a premium for a house with a pool or to have one installed. Not only will it cost more, but you’ll likely have to wait a while. Pool contractors were already busy with unprecedented demand when the Texas freeze came along causing tons of damage to pools and equipment putting  additional stress on an already tight pool market.

Despite it all, we think a pool is worth the cost and wait. Especially in Texas…so dive on in!!
