The U.S. presidential election hasn’t been decided yet, but investors have already made up their mind: buy stocks. S&P 500 futures are up nearly 2 percent this morning, after the index jumped 2.2 percent yesterday. Big winners include health care, technology and private equity companies.

US home prices rose by 6.7% in September. Such numbers are a 1.1% jump from August and an annual increase unseen since May 2014. (Core Logic)

Lumber prices have skyrocketed 160% since April because there is not enough domestic production, adding about $16,000 to the cost of building a new house. (NAHB).

Already itching to deck the halls? Well lucky for you, Target is making it super simple to make your home festive and chic. COURTNEY'S CORNER

Courtney's Corner November 6, 2020

AUSTIN is the BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD TO LIVE!

OK, I might be a bit biased, but I love our sense of community, beautiful natural treasures, pet-friendly places, vibrant restaurant scene, rich artistic culture, academic pursuits and innovative companies! I also love our grateful, collaborative and supportive VIBE. Here’s how I plan to plug-in ALL THE GOODNESS this Thanksgiving season!

Anonymous Good Deeds
These are so fun! Leave a present in a tree at park, pay for the car behind you in the drive-thru or send a gift in the mail. There’s something fun about doing something good with absolutely no recognition!

📙 Reading to Children or the Elderly
I used to volunteer to read aloud for kids who were struggling with reading. It was some of the most rewarding volunteer time I’ve ever done. There is something magical about helping bring stories to life. Writing this newsletter is prompting me to sign up again, maybe over Zoom?!

📃 Write an Unsolicited Letter of Recommendation
I was asked to write a letter of recommendation for a friend a while back. I had such a good time doing it that I decided to write a few for some friends who didn’t request one…I mean why not tell the people you care about how much you admire them?? You can make it fun – compliment their drinking prowess, their incredible wardrobe or acknowledge a place or thing that reminds you of them! Put in in an email or even better, send it by mail. You’ll touch someone’s heart and that’s what the Thanksgiving season is all about!
