Nature is often referred to as the ultimate anti-depressant because it affects us physically, mentally and emotionally. Being outdoors alleviates stress, positively affects our mood/overall mental health, helps us to “reset,” promotes cognitive functioning, fosters problem solving and creativity, supports work/life balance, stimulates social interactions and helps family connection and intimacy.

Here are a few ways to GET OUTDOORS! Get campy

Dare yourself to go camping. This can be a wonderful experience for families; invite a group of friends!

Plan a picnic.
Pack a simple picnic of cold food, grab a blanket and head to your closest park; everyone loves the spontaneity of picnics!

Team up.
Ask your nature-loving friends for advice on local spots, and join them on their next excursion to discover hidden gems in your area.

Grow your own grub.
Explore container gardening and grow your own herbs and vegetables; who doesn’t love to grow their own food!

When a new running shoe from the French company Salomon wears out, every single part of it can be reused: The shoe’s upper, itself made from recycled polyester, can be recycled again into new thread for fabric. The foam sole can be ground up and used in the brand’s ski boots. Nothing goes to landfill.

We are happy to announce that 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the event! Due to our “new normal” and complying with city guidelines, we have transitioned the traditional Turkey Trot into a virtual experience. We are still committed to ending homelessness in Austin and providing our annual check to Caritas of Austin.

Milk + honey is the brainchild of Alissa Bayer, who moved to Austin to attend graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin. Not surprisingly, Alissa fell in love with Austin, it’s culture and people, so she decided to stay. However, one thing Alissa didn’t find in Austin were the wonderful urban day spas that she frequented in other cities – so created M&H! Book your message here
