It’s supposed to be fall, but with temperatures climbing into the 90s this week, it certainly feels more like the tail end of summer! Since we’re still in summertime mode, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the great outdoors here in Austin.
As a proud member of the Travis County Parks Foundation, I’m a strong advocate for getting outside and enjoying the incredible natural resources that make our region so special. Our parks and green spaces are a huge part of what draws people to Central Texas — and what makes life here so enjoyable for those of us lucky enough to call it home.
If you’re heading to ACL this weekend, soak up the good vibes at Zilker Park. If you’re craving a hike, check out Reimers Ranch or any of the beautiful parks across Travis County. Red River Rivalry
Meanwhile Brewing will host a Red River Rivalry Watch Party on Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at noon. Guests can enjoy game day specials from on-site food trucks and catch the University of Texas vs. Oklahoma matchup on the brewery’s big outdoor screen. Early arrival is recommended to secure a prime viewing spot. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.

Packed with seasonal fun and outdoor adventure, LCRA Parks’ Tricks, Treats and Trails event is back for its fifth year at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. Get into the spooky season with Halloween face painting, a petting zoo and a trick-or-treat trail filled with goodies.
