What Does the Rate Cut Mean
for Homebuyers & Sellers
What Does the Rate Cut Mean for Homebuyers & Sellers
“We concluded that this was the right thing for the economy and the people we serve,” the Federal Reserve chair, Jerome Powell, said, referring to the central bank’s decision to cut interest rates by half a point.”
The Fed’s announcement on Wednesday, that it would lower rates by a half a percentage was good news for stocks because lower borrowing costs can boost corporate profits and increase the value of investors’ holdings. Much of the gain was led by technology companies. given Austin’s heavy tech industry, this is good news! It’s also a fair assumpation that other parts of the market will benefit from lower rates, including residential real estate. Lower borrowing costs increases affordability for buyers and gives them a reason to move forward at a time when prices have softened and inventory levels are higher than normal. In short, today’s 6.17% 30 year fixed rate should be a sign for buyers to get in the game between now and the end of year. It’s likey we’ll see a stronger spring market with upward trending price points. On your mark, get set, BUY!
