Here’s What We’re Watching:
Inflation – The inflation rate ticked back up slightly to 3.2% in February. This underscores that fully returning inflation back to a normal pace is likely to be a bumpy process — and back up the Federal Reserve’s decision to proceed carefully as officials consider when and how much to lower interest rates. Labor Market – The state of Texas could add more than a quarter of a million jobs in 2024, according to a new analysis from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The Texas Employment Forecast predicts a 2% increase in jobs statewide this year, amounting to 283,500 jobs added to the Texas’ workforce. Federal Reserve Economic Outlook
Migration and Demand – Domestic migration resilient, international migration increasing. Austin will continue to be an international market because of technology, venture capital and innovation.
Housing Prices – The Austin real estate market has demonstrated stability with year-over-year average sold prices experiencing a modest increase alongside a rise in unit sales.
Housing Inventory – A return to more normal market conditions, the number of residential units available for sale in February increased 21.3% in comparison to January.
